Shindzela

The South African Bush

Those who know us, will know that we almost live just to travel. Those who don’t know us yet, will figure out very quickly that we really like to travel. Our love affair with the bush started pretty much from the moment we met. I remember all the weekends spent in Mabalingwe, lying on the deck drinking vodka and cranberry cocktails, late night braai’s and most of all, the ability that the bush gave us to just have the most wonderful conversations without interruption.

Throughout our relationship this love of the bush has just grown and grown, to the point where spent a large portion of our leave in 2021 somewhere in the bush (but more on that story later…).

Shindzela and the Timbavati

So that brings us to our latest adventure: The Shindzela Tented camp in the majestic Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, home to the fabled, famous and fabulous White Lions of the Timbavati. We had started planning this holiday shortly after our last visit to the Greater Kruger area because we really wanted to see those majestic creatures.

After much waiting, planning and agonising, we finally departed on the 5th of August 2022 on what was about to arguably become our favourite bush vacation thus far. At the time we had absolutely no idea what wonders lay ahead, but as we climbed into the Freelander on that chilly morning, we just knew that we were headed to paradise.

A Sneak Peak

We have every intention of keeping the suspense up all the way through this series of posts. However, we have decided to reward you with a little sneak peak of what we saw throughout the trip…
